In an industry traditionally dominated by men, few women have
risen to the level of influence, credibility, and impact achieved by Funmilayo
Omowumi Loremikan. A distinguished maritime and logistics professional,
retirement reinvention strategist, certified professional coach, mentor, and
advocate for human development, she has spent more than three decades breaking
barriers, creating opportunities, and inspiring the next generation of leaders
across Africa.
With over 31 years of exemplary service in the maritime,
transport, logistics, and supply chain industry, Loremikan has established
herself as one of Africa's respected voices in maritime leadership,
professional development, mentorship, and women's advancement.
Her professional journey was built at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where she served in several strategic positions, including Marketing Officer, Tariff & Billing Officer, SERVICOM Manager, and Personal Assistant to the Port Manager of Lagos Port Complex. Throughout her career, she became known for her professionalism, integrity, commitment to excellence, and dedication to public service.
A defining moment in her career came when she became the
Pioneer Head of the SERVICOM Department at Calabar Port, a position she held
from 2019 to 2025. In this pioneering role, she championed service excellence,
strengthened customer complaint management systems, enhanced stakeholder
engagement, and promoted transparency and accountability within the public
sector.
Her retirement from the Nigerian Ports Authority in October
2025 marked the conclusion of an outstanding public service career
distinguished by an unblemished and corruption-free record, a legacy that
continues to inspire both public and private sector professionals.
However, for Loremikan, retirement was not an ending—it was
the beginning of a broader mission.
Today, she is recognized as a leading retirement reinvention
strategist, leadership mentor, executive coach, and advocate for personal
branding and professional visibility. Through coaching, mentoring, speaking
engagements, and capacity-building initiatives, she has empowered
professionals, executives, women, and young people to discover their potential,
reposition themselves for success, and build meaningful careers and legacies.
Her commitment to youth empowerment has resulted in the
mentoring and development of over 100 unemployed young professionals, many of
whom have successfully launched businesses, pursued careers in logistics and
supply chain management, and gained membership in prestigious professional
institutions, including the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
(CILT) and the African Centre for Supply Chain.
A passionate advocate for women's leadership and inclusion,
Loremikan continues to inspire women across Africa to pursue leadership
opportunities, challenge limitations, and excel in sectors where female
representation remains low. Her success story serves as a powerful example of
what is possible when competence, courage, resilience, and purpose intersect.
Her contributions have earned both continental and global
recognition.
Among her numerous distinctions are:
