The celebration and felicitation of Alhaji Mohammed Lawal
Pedro SAN, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for Lagos State, was a
momentous occasion held at Suru Express Plus Hotel in GRA Ikeja
on October 14th, 2023. The event started at around 2 p.m. with the arrival of
distinguished guests.
The event began with a heartfelt opening prayer led by Alhaji
Adeyoju. Following this, The MD/CEO of Haldane McCall, Prince Edward
Akinlade, the Chief Host, delivered a warm welcome address. He
recognized dignitaries in attendance, including the Oba of Shasha
and other SANs. Prince Edward Akinlade praised Mr. Lawal Pedro's
legal prowess and expressed his confidence that the new Lagos State Attorney
General would make positive changes in Lagos's judicial system. He also
acknowledged the crucial role played by Mr. Pedro's wife in his success. Prince
Edward recounted a special case that Mr. Pedro successfully handled for him in
2019, emphasizing his exceptional legal skills and humility.
The program continued with the National Anthem, followed by the Anwal Ul Islam Anthem. The event's host company, Haldane McCall PLC, represented by Ms Biola Elugbaju introduced the brand as one the best companies in the real estate and hospitality sector as well as their company's values, encouraging people to patronize them and offering a 2 per cent commission for client referrals.
Bayo Akinlade presented a citation, which was followed by a touching tribute to Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Pedro SAN. Barristers Omolola Satir and Abolanle Bakare spoke about their deep and inspiring relationships with the Commissioner, portraying him as a remarkable mentor and influencer.
The celebration took a personal turn with "My
Father, My First Love," where Mr. Pedro's daughter, Mrs.
Mariam Pedro Tijani, shared her admiration for her father's character
and the impact he has had on her life. She described him as her pride and gave
an example of his influence being acknowledged in the Akwa Ibom
state judiciary. She prayed for his
continued success.
"Knowing the Man" was the theme of the
next segment, presented by Dr. Abiola Pedro, another daughter of
the Attorney General of Lagos State and Alhaji Fatai Balogun. They portrayed
Mr. Pedro as an accomplished individual who has transformed many lives and been
chosen by God to shape others' destinies.
The event featured reactions and responses, with George
Oguntade SAN and Barr Bolanle Olugbemi sharing their
thoughts.
Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Pedro SAN
expressed his gratitude during the vote of thanks. He noted that this was the
second surprise event since his appointment as the Attorney General and
Commissioner of Justice for Lagos State. He shared a memorable professional
experience where he received a commendation from Justice Mustapher,
who later became the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. He shared how Justice
Mustapher's words inspired him, and he reflected on the journey that
led him to his current role.
The event concluded with the cutting of the celebratory cake
by Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN) and his wife, Alhaja Lawal Pedro,
followed by photographs with well-wishers and friends. Taofeekat Oshodi
delivered the closing remarks, and Alhaja Mrs. Pedro led the
closing prayer.
Overall, the event was a beautiful appreciation for the outstanding achievements and character of Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Pedro SAN and his contributions to the legal profession and the community.
