Oba Bashiru Abisoye Odesanya,The Oloto of Oto,in Lagos, Holds Coronation Ceremony

On Monday 28th November 2022, the coronation ceremony of a new King, Oba Hon. Bashiru Abisoye Odesanya the Oloto of Oto and Mainland Kingdom, took place in Lagos.

He was crowned as the new Oloto of Oto, Ido and Mainland Kingdom at his ancient palace at Oto, Lagos State.

Popular Lagos politician, Prince Ayodele Adewale attended the ceremony with his mothers, Princess Bisi and Princess Ebun nee Oloto who are direct descendants of the Oloto. The Oloto was the first son of Ogunfuminire.

 They are both great-granddaughters of King Ajayi Oloto. King Ajayi passed on in 1922.

Comrade Ayodele Adewale’s cousins; Prince Jimmy Oloto, Prince Adewale Oloto and Princess Toyin Oloto were also at the ceremony.

Oloto was the first son of Ogunfuminire, the progenitor of the Aworis who migrated with his people from Ile Ife to Lagos. Oloto was the second king of Lagos. His power was subdued by the British colonialists because he refused to get involved in the selling of slaves. He was banished to present-day Oto from Lagos Island where he originally had his palace.

The occasion was historic as the Ojora of Ijora, Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Ojora, Oba Adeyemi Adeniyi Oba Of Igbobi Sabe, Aare Onikoyi Chief Tomori, Hon. Muyiwa Jomoh, Hon. Akeem Agboola Masha, Hon Mufutau Adewale Egberongbe and distinguished personalities grace the occasion. 

The Elegba traditionalist entertained guests.
