All roads led to the sleepy town of Aiyepe Ijebu on Sunday 6th March, 2022, when the popular Shittu family gathered at their family House to offer the 8-day Fidau prayer for Alhaja Sidikat Abeni Shittu who passed on some days ago.
Just some weeks ago,
a beautiful birthday celebration was held for her husband, Alhaji Shafi Shittu,
the popular Aiyepe Lace Merchant. It was a big event which had all his children
and grandchildren, fly in from all over the world to witness this grand event.
Sadly, the demise of Alhaji Shittu's first wife made some of
them extend their stay longer.
The family compound was decorated in two ways by Gleetterzevents
and her crew. A marquee was set up in the large compound for the reception, while
the other part was set up for the prayer session.
The event started with the entrance of the top Imams from Aiyepe
and Ilese Ijebu.
After a while, the
daughter of the deceased Monisola Shittu
walked in alongside her husband, sister (Nike Shittu) and her other siblings.
As they made their grand entry, walking side by side, the
clerics began the Fidau prayer, with quotes from a few verses in the Quran.
As this went on the Kabiyesi of Aiyepe, Oba Sukanmi Shobowale
of Aiyepe Ijebu made his entrance, stopping to greet his mother and the
children of the deceased. The clerics went on to offer numerous prayers for the
deceased according to Islamic belief.
After this, the clerics took time to recognise the presence of
all the big Imams from Aiyepe and Ijeje, like Alhaja Shifatu, Lawyer Abudu,
Alhaji Nuru Shifatu, Barr. Aderoju and others.
After this, the cleric
then went ahead to announce the donations for Mosque development as Alhaji
Shittu even in his old age has kept up the work.
With this, the children
took up the baton from their father and made a donation of Five Hundred
thousand to the mosque development.
After this, another prayer was made for the deceased. After a
short word of consolation, the reception went into full gear as guests began to
turn up in a beautiful blueprint Ankara, dazzling in various styles.
Aristo band immediately lit up the mood, as guests continued
to troop in. Queen Bolanle Alara of Epe Lagos made her presence felt, dazzling in her attire. Popular Actress Kemi Afolabi also got her groove on dancing
and cheering with her friends.
Finally, Monisola
Shittu made her entrance with her sister, Nike Shittu, dressed in the same
attire dancing through the crowd.
Alhaja Sidikat Abeni Shittu died at age 88. Going by what
everyone said about her, it was a life worth celebrating.
