and accomplished Maritime practitioner
Dr Rafiu Ladipo is a man you can read like a book.
While recieving the STAR OF FAME PLAQUE of The Great
lagosians Hall of Fame, in his office recently he told the large number of
guests who came to the induction ceremony how ne sojourned to lagos in a fruits
truck way back in 1970.
"After my secondary education in Ibadan, my father
packaged me along with others to start a new life in Lagos"
According to him the truck landed at a fruit market in mushin
called Olosan in musin from where he was handed over to his uncle in ilasamaja
where he stated his life as a lagosian.
" From my uncle's parlour i got a job as a motor boy in
one of the CFAO susidiaries loading and following trailers from the Lagos
seaport to deliver goods to different parts of the country"
This sparked off a festival of activities which saw him
through several maritime concerns catapulting him to the zenith of the industry
when he became Managing Director of a shipping company after which he
established his own Clearing and forwarding business.
Dr Ladipo while working acquired knowledge about insurance
going as far as the United States of America to obtain a doctorate degree.
Perhaps the most remarkable of his achievements in lagos was
joining the supporters club in 1976 and playing a pivotal role in transforming
the football fans club into an enviable Nigerian brand that glamorized the game
of football in the world
in his acceptance speech, he thanked the Great Lagosians Hall
of Fame for inducting him and thereby dedicated the STAR OF FAME PLAQUE to the
entire members of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club who according to him
were instrumental to his myriad of achievements in the city of Lagos.
