Lagos Lawyer, TUNDE Kalaro And Siblings Bury Their Mum In Grand Style

The prayer of every parent is to live long, watch their children succeed in life and cater to their needs at old age.

Most importantly is for them to leave behind worthy children that would give them a befitting burial when they die.

Late Madam Elizabeth Olufunmilayo Kalaro would be proud of her lovely children, where she is in heaven, as she watched them celebrate her with a classic burial.

Madam Olufunmilayo was a pastor and Senior Mother-in-Israel when she was alive. Born in 1944 into the prestigious family of Pa John Ajide Akintunde and Mrs. Rachel Ashiawu (both late) in Budoloke Ora, Kwara state, she pursued her education up to a level that earned her the job of an auxiliary nurse in the mid-60s.

She got married to her heartthrob and darling husband, Pa James Ademilade Kalaro and they were happily married until he died in 2012. Madam Olufunmilayo was a devoted Christian who never joked with her prayers and true worship of God. No wonder she was honoured with the highly revered title, Senior Mother- in- Israel. She instilled this on her children as she had indeed left good legacy for family, friends, church members and lovers to follow.

The deceased died on September 9, 2021, at the ripe age of 77. She is survived by 4 children: 2 males and 2 females, who are all doing well in their respective trade. The first child, Tunde Kalaro is a reputable lawyer, Toyin Kalaro is a seasoned journalist, Omowunmi Kalaro-Olayide is a vibrant human rights practitioner, while the last child, Abimbola Kalaro Lawal is presently in the United States.  Also left behind are grandchildren, and members of her extended family.

The burial service and reception party took place in the morning of October 1st, 2021 at the popular Oaks Garden in Idimu, Lagos.

The burial service was officiated by clergies from Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Surulere District Headquarters. After burial service was held, the remains of the deceased was laid to rest at her residence in Idimu, Lagos.

After giving dust to dust and ashes to ashes, the children hosted their guests to a befitting reception party filled with glitz and glamour.

The ever dynamic musician, Ogabi Immaculate and his band gave a good account of themselves on stage, entertaining the hosts and their guests.

The Master of Ceremony of the day was the popular London Police, who was at his best with his timely and apt jokes which made everybody in the hall laugh loudly. He however called each child of the deceased at intervals to approach the dance floor to rock the party as the band doled out top-notch music.  Family, friends, associates and well-wishers also came around and were part of the glamour.

The reception party was fun in its totality, as foods and drinks were served round to the satisfaction of guests.

During a chat with CityPeople's Jamiu Abubakar, the eldest child of the deceased, Barrister Tunde Kalaro on behalf of his siblings thanked their guests who came from far and wide to celebrate their for a life well spent. While extolling his mother, Madam Olufunmilayo, he referred to as a prayer warrior. He however expressed how much he and his siblings would miss her.

“I will miss my mom's prayerful life. She was a mom indeed, very protective of her children. When she was alive she would ensure that nothing went wrong. She was always checking on us and making sure that all issues related to her children are sorted out. She was such a kind mother and loving mother. She was straight straightforward and no-nonsense woman. When we were growing up she taught us in a way that we knew that honesty and truthfulness is the hallmark of a good human being. And that's all we always reach out for."

" Her prayers have really kept us going. She was a member of C&S Movement Church, Ayo ni. She was a pastor and Mother-in-Israel. Combining all those roles spiritually, fortified us through the grace of God. She was a very prayerful and prophetic mother. That really helped us as she had imbibed that spiritual culture in us; to be spiritually alert and prayerful as well as teach our children to also be prayerful."
