On Thursday September15, 2021 the entire Oworonshoki Kingdom came alive, as Princess Adunni and her siblings held the 8th day Fidau prayer for their father, Oba Bashiru Oloruntoyin Alabi Saliu.
Oba Saliu, the Elebo 1 of Oworonsoki was the 5th king of Oworonshoki. He joined his ancestors on the 30th of August 2021 at 72.
The highly celebrated first class king was survived by lovely children like Aremo Prince Nurudeen, Princess Adunni, Prince Kabiru Segun, Prince Mudasiru Oloworo, Honourable Prince Kehinde Oloworo, Hon. Prince Taiwo Oloworo, Prince Fareed Oloworo, Prince Jide Oloworo, Prince Taofeek Oloworo, Prince Notic Oloworo, Princess Afusat, and Princess Fausat. They are all successful in their respective chosen professions.
Celebrating the departed monarch for his great leadership qualities and exemplary life he lived, the prayer session was held to honour his legacy. The prayer was anchored by top Islamic clerics in the community and beyond, as they prayed that Allah should forgive and accept him into Paradise. Prayers were also said for his family, relatives, the entire Oworonshoki community, Lagos state and Nigeria at large.
Later in the day, the royal family hosted their guests and the community to a feast in the palace premises. It was celebration galore as the atmosphere was greeted with fun.
Collections of popular Yoruba music icons were waxed by the Disc Jockey who was on duty throughout the party entertaining the audience to the fullest.
Among notable personalities at the event were Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Ojora, the Ojora of Ijoraland; Oba Kabiru Kolawole Ilufemiloye Adelaja Agbabiaka, the Osolo of Isolo; HRM Oba MAO Oladega, the Olu of Agboyiland in Agboyi-Ketu; and many other high ranking monarchs.
In fact, it was a gathering of kings as they all came to celebrate their colleagues’ indelible achievement.
Children of the late monarch were however seen gorgeously dressed and looking radiant as they attended to the various guests making sure they all had a splendid reception. They later stepped out to dance with some of the guests at the palace.
