It was a colourful traditional and wedding engagement in Lagos when children of 2 prominent families, Shonibare and Osibodu started their matrimonial life together as husband and wife. One of Nigeria’s erudite lawyers, Chief Supo Shonibare and his lovely wife, Mrs Munirat Shonibare and their new inlaw, Chief Victor Gbolade and Funke Osibodu hosted over 2000 guests to their children's wedding in Lagos.
The groom is Oluwatobilola Osibodu while the bride is Abimbola Shonibare. The classy party took place at Harbour Point Event Centre, Victoria Island on Friday, 2nd February ,2019 and it paraded top dignitaries and society women from all walks of lives. The beautiful wedding reception took place at one of the busiest event centres in Lagos, Harbour Point event centre. The venue sat over 2000 guests and was filled to the brim. The beautiful hall was well decorated with lovely décor which must have also gulped millions of naira. The venue literally costs over 2million naira and this shows all the paparazzi that the wedding will parade even as guests got hold of their invites. Heavy security was well placed at all strategic areas and made it comfortable for all guests to walk in majestically into the heavenly transformed venue.
MEET THE 2 POWERFUL COUPLES PARENTS
The parents of the couple were the happiest seeing their children united in Holy matrimony. They both looked good in their choice of outfits. The grooms parents, Mr Victor and Funke Osibodu wore a gold lace and burgundy aso oke while the brides parent wore an ivory gold attire all through. The grooms father, Victor Gbolade Osibodu, MFR, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vigeo Limited. He is also the Chairman of Special Olympics, Nigeria and serves as the Chairman of Vigeo Holdings Limited. Mr. Osibodu serves as the Chairman of the Vigeo Group, the parent company to the 5 arms of the business; Vigeo Capital, Vigeo Oil & Gas, Vigeo Shipping, Power and Marketing & Distribution.
His pretty wife, Funke Osibodu is also a known figure in the banking sector. She once served as the Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank of Nigeria, Ecobank and later a director of the holding company of Ecobank Nigeria. She is presently the CEO of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company for Benin City in Nigeria where her husband, Victor, is the Chairman.
The bride’s family are also very classy and brainy, the bride’s father, Chief Supo Shonibare is an erudite lawyer and an active member of the defunct National Democratic Coalition, NADECO. He was a chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy, AD and presently the force behind the newly registered Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Lagos State. He is part of the leader of the Pan-Yoruba organisation, Afenifere, in Lagos State. He is the party's former national vice chairman, South West, and now national chairman. His wife of over 3 decades, Mrs Munirat Shonibare is a veteran interior decorator who sits atop a flourishing furniture company, IO Furnitures Ltd. She is also the founding President of the internationally affiliated Interior Designers Association of Nigeria, IDEA, and serves as an Advisory Board member and mentor for WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers).
HERE COMES THE LOVE BIRDS
The couple made their entrance in a chauffeur driven black rolls Royce. Abi and Tobi are 2 love birds who shown how much they love each other at the wedding. They kept giving each other eye contacts, smiling to each other and they were holding hands all through the party. They looked radiant in their choice of outfits which was supplied by the grooms aunty who runs Erinlard fabrics. For their engagement, the bride wore an all champagne gold colour aso oke matched with an expensive Miu miu shoe, her make up was done by Chic Makeovers, hair by Tobbies Touch while the groom wore a cream colour swiss Atiku. For their wedding, the bride glowed in an off-white wedding dress matched with Jimmy Choo shoes while the groom looked dapper in a custom made tuxedo suit.
WHY MANY PEOPLE LOVE EMIR OF KANO
The Emir of Kano is such a lovable man, he is very humble to the core and this was brought to bear at the Shonibare /Osibodu’s wedding in Lagos. He sat calmly and attended to everyone who went to greet him. His entourage were very accommodating and when he was leaving, most guests got up to take pictures with him. He looked regally dressed in his black royal regalia and white turban.

No wedding is complete without aso ebi and this wedding was also not an exception as guests turned out in their lovely blush pink colour aso ebi lace and aso oke for the party. Lagos business woman, Edith Atobatele, who runs a popular fabric store on Joel Ogunaike, GRA, Lagos supplied all the blush pink aso ebi for the groom’s family. She was also the one in charge of the groom’s parent,grooms brothers outfits and also all aso ebis for the engagement ceremony. Family and guests stunned in combination of gold, aqua colour lace and gele for the engagement.

Newton and David is one of the most sought after event decorator companies in Nigeria, infact unarguably the biggest because of the array of the super-rich who she decorates for. She is not for everyone but for selected celebrities who can pay for her services. She is the leading lights in using fresh flowers to decorate party venues and they usually don’t come cheap. She decorated the venue to the heavenlies and it looked simply ‘awesome”. Give it to Mrs. Uche Majekodunmi and her team who are majorly not Nigerians, they were all on board to give the venue a beautiful look.

At the wedding were large numbers of the families of the couple because their family is very large and powerful at the same time. They were seen right from the engagement day to the white wedding ceremony taking up one responsibilities or the other. It was a joyous moment for these 2 families as they were bonded by love due to the union of their children who got married to each other.

The duo of Lagos Celebrity women, Biodun Laja and Barrister Shade Balogun was at the party. There is rarely no A’list party that they won’t get invited to because they make parties tick. The 2 society matriarch are top powerful women who are playing big in education and politics. They were seen wearing an expensive burgundy velvet lace and 24 karat gold coral jewelry complemented with an all beaded blush pink headgear.

Newton and David led by Mrs Uche Majekodunmi decorated the Event Venue and also doubles as the event planner. Libran Eye was in-charge of photography, Shuga Band on the band stand, Peridot Official was the official clothier for the bridal party, Quest film production and 360 visuals was in-charge of Videography, Tobi Ogunniyi of Tobbies Touch was the official hair stylist, the beautiful white cake was baked by Livvystwists and Eru Iyawo was packaged by event essentiales.

The classy party had in attendance over 6 governors from the west who all came to support the couples fathers. Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, former Ekiti Governor, Niyi Adebayo and former Ogun Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. They all sat on the VVIP table next to where the couples fathers were sitting.

There was a table which was highly reserved for prominent personalities like governors and co. It was long table where the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi Lamido was sitting alongside the chairman of the day, also sighted on the table were foremost business men, Honeywell Group chairman, Oba Otudeko, Otunba Segun Oshin, Sir Ike Nwachukwu, Ade Ogunlesi, Lagos PDP Guber candidate, Jimi Agbaje and others.

Lagos billionaire and chairman of Saipem Group, Chief Bode Emmanuel stepped out after a long break from the social scene To only was he at the party, he came in with his beautiful wife, Anana Okwuosa Emmanuel. She looked radiant in the onion colour aso ebi.
