2017 TAMPAN 2ND ANNUAL CONVENTION AT MUSON CENTRE IN LAGOS. PIX BY ABDULRASHEED SANNI

In its efforts to unite actors and actresses in the Yoruba movie industry, members of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) held its 2nd Annual Convention (Eko 2017).



The event held at the Muson Centre on Thursday, November 16 and  had big personalities in the industry in attendance. Below is the report of the first day of the 3 day event. Our movie reporter, GBOLAHAN ADETAYO was at the event and he  serves you exclusive gists from the event.
ARRIVAL/RED CARPET

Day 1 of the 3 day event kicked off  at 3pm. The invited guests arrived graced the red carpet for interviews and also posed for the dozens of Photo Journalists present at the event. Shortly after that, they moved aside for cocktail and also gist with friends and some of the movie stars present.

GBENGA ADEYINKA KICKS OFF THE EVENT
Immediately after the red carpet segment came to an end, the anchor of the day, Gbenga Adeyinka De 1st stormed  the stage to kick start the event by introducing guests especially those who came from  other sectors.

OPENING SPEECH BY DELE ODULE
The President of the association, Prince Dele Odule said the welcome address, and in his speech, he said Tampan is an avenue for theatre practitioners to meet and deliberate over pressing issues.  He added soon as we came on board, our first attempt was to spread the tentacles of this association beyond the south west Nigeria and beyond the shores of this country so as to remove the toga of being  a sectional association which we are not. Presently, and to God be the glory, our association, TAMPAN is in Kano, Delta, Kogi, FCT and others.

OBA ELEGUSHI CAME
His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Elegushi was at the event. He was one of the important personalities to arrive the venue early. His presence was highly recognized.

AARE ONA KANKAFO SPEAKS ON PIRACY
The newly emerged Aare Ona Kankafo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams was physically present at the convention like no other. He was one of the speakers at the event.
He spoke at length about the long time piracy problem that has been the bane of the industry.  "Piracy should be removed from exclusive list"-Adams said.

HON. LADI ADEBUTU HONOURS TAMPAN
Ogun guber aspirant, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, who is currently a member of the Federal House of Representatives, honoured the association. Despite his busy schedule, the son of popular Nigerian billionaire, Adebutu Kesington a.k.a Baba Ijebu, he made out time to be part of the successful event.

MEET TAMPAN MAN OF THE YEAR
Finally, the TAMPAN Man of the Year, whom many have been eager to know since the day for the event was fixed was unveiled.  Dr. Tope Agbeyo, the CEO Media Concepts was given the award as TampaN Man of the Year for his selfless service to the theatre practitioners and a Recognition of his outstanding support. He was decorated by Oba Elegushi.

EYO MASQUERADES ON DISPLAY
Eyo masquerades were on display to showcase our cultural heritage. Their performance took a while and it was really interesting. They were about 6 and they performed on stage. They specially prayed for the president of the association, Dele Odule who later sprayed them money.

PLANNING COMMITTEE ALL IN WINE COLOUR ATTIRES
The 2017 Convention Planning Committee members were clad in wine colour Kampala both,  males and females. They all sewed it in different styles that enhanced their figures.

FEMI ADEBAYO REPRESENTS KWARA GOV.
The executive governor of Kwara State, Abdulahi Abdulfatai, who played the host for the first edition of the convention could not attend this year’s edition. He was well represented by his special adviser on Arts and Culture, Hon Femi Adebayo who is also a prolific actor. He also spoke at the event on behalf of his boss.

LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR ALSO
Another important guest who could not make it to the event on the first day of the event was the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr.  Akinwunmi Ambode. He was represented by one of his aides.

ABOUT OGA BELLO'S COMMENT ON PLANNING COMMITTEE
One of the backnones of the association and versatile actor, Adebayo Salami popularly known as Oga Bello saluted the courage of the planning committee.  He said this year’s edition is better than the first.
PRINCESS TOYIN KOLADE WAS THERE
Popular Lagos socialite and business woman, Princess Toyin Kolade, who is the boss of Fisolak company was also present at the occasion. She was spotted among the top players of the industry exchanging pleasantries and also had unlimited fun at the event.

PRINCE JIDE KOSOKO SAID THE VOTE OF THANKS
Immediate past President of ANTP before the aggrieved members left to form TAMPAN, Prince Jide Kosoko gave the vote of thanks and all activities came to an end on the first day of the event.
