The South West Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2024, was held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos on March 9th, 2024, and it saw a remarkable turnout, emphasizing the theme of "Enacting Innovation & Technology for National Development."
The event aimed to equip young individuals with the skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria's evolving landscape.
Attendees from across the six South West states convened to explore avenues for leadership, training, and entrepreneurship development. Distinguished speakers such as Dr Jane Kimemia, Hon Babawale Alogba, Hajarat Adetola Adedibu, Dr. Abioye Oke, Barr Gbenga Fawehinmi, Mr. Bolaji Oshobukola, Hon Toyin Aremu, and Mr. Success Ogunkolade shared insights on leveraging technology for innovation in various sectors.
The summit featured engaging panel discussions, interspersed
with music interludes, fostering an atmosphere of inspiration and learning. One
of the highlights was the announcement of comprehensive training programs in
agriculture, fashion design, event management, and beauty and skincare,
commencing on April 2nd, 2024.
By providing practical skills training, the summit aims to
empower youth to establish their businesses, fostering economic growth and
reducing unemployment rates in the South West region of Nigeria. Participants
expressed gratitude for the initiative and urged governmental support to expand
similar training programs in the future, underscoring the potential to catalyze
positive change within their communities.
