On Friday 22nd March 2024, the immediate family of late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Ali Okunmade 11, hosted a grand 8th Day Fidau Prayers in honour of the patriarch of the family.
Oba Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, joined his ancestors
on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He died at the University College Hospital (UCH)
Ibadan at the age of 81 after a brief illness.
He was buried at his Ali-Iwo ancestral home the following day,
Friday, March 15, 2024, according to Islamic rites.
Present at the Fidau prayers, however, were top celebrities,
religious leaders, politicians, politicians as well as transitional rulers and
High Chiefs.
Leading Oba Balogun's family members to the ancient Mapo, the venue of the event, was the late monarch's younger brother, Senator Kola
Balogun and the eldest son of Oba Balogun, Aremo Femi Balogun. Of course, the
three wives of the departed Kabiyesi Olori Olayinka Balogun, Olori Funmi
Balogun and Olori Khalimat were also there.
Other prominent dignitaries at the event included former
governor of the state and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi
Ladoja; Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Akinola (De-Damak) and
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Segun Olayiwola.
Also in attendance were the President-General, Central Council of
Ibadan Indigenes, Barrister Niyi Ajewole; Iyaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaja
Saratu Konibaje; Babasale Musulumi of Ibadanland, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi and
Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaja Iswat Ameringun.
A professor of Islamic and Arabic Studies, Kamil Oloso, gave a powerful sermon at the 8th Day Fidau Prayer
