This is the story of a very beautiful lady who is also very stylish. She plays big in the fashion sector. And she is a good advertisement for what she does. It is the story of HRH Gloria Ifeoma Akabueze who is a big businesswoman who also plays big in other sectors of the economy.
Recently, CityPeople got her to talk about her success story.
“My name is Mrs Akabueze Gloria Ifeoma from Ukpo in Dunokofia Local government in Anambra state. I am happily married with 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl. The oldest is in the university, while the others are still in secondary school. I am the CEO of Ajibo Fashion World which has been in existence for over 20 years.
I have a fashion store that the head office is
located at 8 Martins Street, Lagos Nigeria. We also have branches at Ikota
Shopping Complex, Lekki, Lagos. We also have a branch at Main market, OSHA in
Anambra state. I import luxury ladies/men’s wear from Turkey, USA, London,
Italy and France. I am a personal shopper for top celebrities, politicians, and
any individual who loves original and luxury wear. My company sales are in
wholesale and retail prices. I am also the CEO of Lekki Atlantic Homes and
Properties. I am a developer. I sell and build houses for sale. I help people
to secure good land and build for them, especially those people outside
Nigeria.
I am also into interior decorations/items of furniture. I source most of my interiors from Turkey and
Italy. I am currently the client manager
of ZGM Investment Group of Companies Limited, we are into construction,
contracts remediation of sites, foods and Beverages, spices, and free trade
Zone operator in Ogun, Ondo states. We also encourage and partner with foreign
investors who are willing to invest in Nigeria. My company has done a lot of
contracts with some government parastatals and is also open to working with a
lot of agencies in Nigeria. We have all the types of equipment to deliver
standard work.
Why did she go into fashion business? “One of the many reasons
I chose to do fashion business was my love for fashion, which grew as I grew
older. Shapes and styles always intrigued me and fashion has a way of
satisfying my creative fancies. I was obsessed with fashion from a very young
age. I loved dressing up and looking at really cool designer clothes. The name
Ajibo originated from my university days because of the way I was dressing so a
lot of my classmates just gave me the name. I always won the best-dressed student
in my university days. And of course, the money that comes out of the business
is very encouraging.”
We got her to tell us about her growing-up years. “Well, my
growing-up days were exciting. I was born on January 22, 1982, at Iyenu
Hospital at Ogidi in Anambra state. I grew up in a family of 7. My parents are
into business, and I am still very solid, I was very comfortable growing up. I
attended my primary and secondary school at Inland Girls Secondary School,
Onitsha in Anambra state. Then, I proceeded to Enugu State University of
Science and Technology (esut), where I obtained a BSc in Banking and Finance,
and came out with a 2.1. I served in Sterling Bank‘s head office in Lagos.
I cater for both genders because travelling around the world
has opened my eyes to so many business opportunities and also to make my
environment very conducive for everyone to look good.
Finally, many of the component cultures of Nigeria show in
what they wear and their styles are characteristic of their tribal society and
customs.
Nigeria is the most fashionable African country with a
bustling latest style and an electrifying mix of traditional and modern
designs. Nigerian women can spend a lot of money just to look good and their
fashion sense is top-notch.”
