Association of Friends President, Otunba Kole Olatunji Gives Presidential Report On 100 Days In Office


On behalf of our Life Chairman, Alhaji Sule Onabiyi, our pioneer President, Asiwaju Festus Adeleke Adesina, our pioneer Vice President, Asiwaju Engr. Akinlawon Akanni Abiola and other distinguished Members of the Board of Trustees, I welcome all our distinguished members and guests to this occasion of our 100 days in office.

 

To the glory of God, this current Management Committee set sail for the Management of this great and noble institution 100 days ago. While we thank the entire membership for the confidence reposed in me and my dedicated management team, it’s my pleasure to report our 100 days achievements in line with my inaugural speech on our Vision and Mission statements towards the social, economic, political development of our great Club that was founded almost 45 years ago.

 

WELFARE:

The dedicated Welfare team led by the Secretary, Mr. Ernest Ajasa contacted through correspondence, phone calls and visitations to some members who have not been in the club for a very long time. The aim of reaching out to them is to ascertain their well-being in the spirit of the fellowship that has been in place since the inception of the founding of the Club amongst its members.

Part of our welfare intervention is to also raise funds from our members to support the medical expenses of our ailing members such as Mr. Remi Caxton-Martins. I will like to use this medium to thank all members that have yielded to this clarion call despite this austere period while hoping other members would do the needful. We hope to give the fund realised so far to him during the course of this event.

 

GROUP LIFE INSURANCE POLICY:

As part of our welfare policy, the Management has increased the insurance premium for our members to include critical illness with the already existing permanent disability, death and burial instituted by the last administration bringing the total receivables premium from one million Naira to one million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira. Members should also note that the Management has renewed the insurance policy for all members that have paid their annual levy, while we urge other members to endeavour to pay their statutory levies so that they can also be enlisted.

 

SOCIAL:

The social temperature has been warm since the inception of this Management Committee both at the Club organised events and members' social events.

 

SUYA:

We have organised three suya outing since the inception of this administration. The first was held on the 24th of March, 2023 and it was hosted by the January, February and March Birthday Boys, which the Management Committee used to welcome all members back to the club from the Federal and State electioneering process organised by INEC and to kick start our monthly suya activities for our birthday boys. The club realised about One Million Naira (N1,000.000.00) from the event. The second suya was organised by our newly inducted member, Mr. Hameed Akintunde Balogun, a worthy diaspora member of this great club. This was hosted on the 21st of April, 2023 and the club realised about Five Million Naira (N5,000.000.00) in cash and gift. This is highly commendable and worthy of our praise and thanksgiving. The third suya was organised by April birthday boys on the 28th of April, 2023 in which the club realised over Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500.000.00). All thanks to all the participants of this suya events.

 

Valentine’s Night: One of the main objectives of this current administration is family bonding and our Valentine’s outing portrayed our aim and objectives in this regard as we should be seen to be closely knitted together as Children of God. The program was well organised with a lot of couple’s games that rekindled the lost love flame amongst our members' families. We thank all members that supported the program.

 

Offices:

 The Offices have been given a face-lift with the replacement of the air conditioners, purchase of office equipment, painting, lighting, plumbing and electrification. A visit to the club’s offices would definitely inspire your patronage.


BAR:

The bar is running smoothly under the supervision of the Social and Publicity Secretary, Mr Aliu Mohammed Olurotimi. The club has been listed as a dealer with major drinks manufacturers like: Nigerian Breweries, Guinness Nigeria, Intercontinental Breweries and we hope to create a business niche for the club from these relationships as part of our efforts to improve our revenue generation base.



Members Social Events:

 The following invitation was been extended to the Club and honoured during the period under review. They include: Engr. Adeshina Adeyeba Mum’s 75th birthday outing at ILE-IFE 4th February 2023Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole’s 70th birthday outing on the 4th February 2023. 1st-year remembrance of our late member, Elder Olaonipekun Williams on the 1st April 202340th wedding anniversary of our President, Otunba Kole Olatunji and wife on the 9th April, 2023. House Warming ceremony of Mr. Yomi Okudalaiye on the 10th April 2023. 1st-year remembrance of our late member, Elder Kamal Adeyemi on the 6th May 2023.


INDUCTION OF MR HAMEED AKINTUNDE BALOGUN M/N220:

 During the month of April, 2023 General Meeting of the club, the house ratified the motion to confer Full membership on our diaspora member name mentioned above for his magnanimity during his suya hosting. The induction ceremony took place on Monday, 24th of April 2023.

 

Maintenance:

 Our maintenance intervention since inception includes: Purchase and installation of LED light within the club house. Repair of all faulty Air-Conditioners within the club house. Repair of faulty GYM equipment at the Sir Kesington Adebutu Sport Center.

Purchase and replacement of 6 units 1hp Split unit at the club’s Offices and the Social and Publicity office donated by the President.

Purchase and installation of curtain at the offices.

Painting of the Offices, President’s office, General Secretary’s Office and the Alh. Sule Onabiyi Hall.

Purchase and installation of higher load bearing Cut-Out for the club

Purchase and Installation of a higher load-bearing Ammeter for the prepaid meter.


    Overhaul of our petrol generator

Purchase and replacement of the window unit Air-Conditioners at the Sule Onabiyi Hall with 14 units 1.5 hp split unit Air-Conditioners courtesy of our amiable diaspora member, Mr. Hammed Akintunde Balogun, who gifted the club during the suya night hosting

Purchase and installation of the day and night curtain at the Alhaji Sule  Onabiyi hall and offices

Purchase of 16 units Automatic Voltage Switch (AVS) to protect our Air-Conditioner from power voltage surge.


Creation of Social and Publicity office within the club house.

While thanking members that have supported this projects from the inception of this administration, we humbly request for more support from our members so that we can do more in the coming weeks knowing fully well that your financial support would be judiciously utilised for the development of our great club.

 

FINANCE:

We have increased the funds in our commercial deposit from Two Million Naira (N2,000.000.00) to Four Million Naira (N4,000.000.00) despite our numerous developmental project. A testimony of our frugality and sincere intention to increase the financial standing of the club. We count on your continuous support in the coming days, weeks and months.

 

SPORTS:

We intend to improve the corporate structure of the Sports Center by creating a reception at the club’s facility with a qualified receptionist managing activities at the arena, the club’s gym is anticipated to be a tool by this current Management Committee to increase our club’s membership drive.

The Management also plan to improve the toilet facility within the sports arena.

Conclusion: On behalf of my humble self and members of the Management Committee, we would like to thank the Almighty God for His infinite grace upon our lives, Members of the Board of Trustees for their everyday support, all our Past Presidents, Elders and distinguished members of the club for the unflinching support we have enjoyed so far. We sure wouldn’t have achieved this much without your support and commitment to our lofty aims and objectives, we also wish to assure you of our desire and willingness to sustain the Club’s development tempo
