Lagos Lawmaker, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu is in a happy
mood right now. For him, it's a double celebration. He recently turned 40. He also
recently won his re-election into the Lagos House of Assembly for a 3rd term. He
is the accomplished Lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos
House of Assembly.
It was to celebrate his double victory that the famous St. Peters Church, on Ajele Street, Faji area of Lagos Island was agog on Sun 2nd April 2023, as the Kasunmu and Mogaji families of Lagos, in conjunction with the church parishioners hosted Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), to a surprise thanksgiving service in appreciation of God's Grace upon the life of the young Lawmaker who was recently re-elected to Lagos State House of Assembly and also clocked 40 earlier in the week.
The family event coincided with the Palm Sunday commemoration.
During the service, the Choristers rendered songs of praises and also sang Hymns to thank God for the recent landmarks in the life of Hon. Kasunmu, who once served as a young Chorister in the church many years back.
Quoting from the Scriptures, the presiding Priest, Venerable
Samuel Ifeyemi, emphasized the importance of giving thanks to God in all
situations. He commended Hon. Kasunmu for his exploits in the political arena
and charged him to keep demonstrating the core values of Christ as he moves to
the next phase of his career and life.
The man of God prayed for him and all the newly elected
political office holders, especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-Elect
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In his response, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, who attended
the event in the company of his adorable wife, Mrs Morenike Esther Kasunmu and
other family members, such as Mrs Rukayat Makinde, her husband, Lagos Big Boy,
Lekan Makinde, Kehinde Dada and others, thanked the Church and the family for
the celebration and for deeming it fit to organise the thanksgiving in his
honour. He promised to keep protecting and projecting the good name of the
family and keep working for the benefit of the good people of Ikeja
Constituency 2 and humanity at large.
As a mark of honour to the memory of his late mentor and
mother figure, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Nelson, Hon. Kasunmu personally requested for
Yeye Kemi Nelson's special song "EMI NI KAN LOYE, IDI TI MOFI YIN BABA,
EMI NI KAN LOYE, as the initial
rendition for the thanksgiving.
Also present at the Thanksgiving service were Chief Adekunle Kasunmu, (Hon ARK's father), who initiated the ceremony, his wife, Mrs Olukemi Kasunmu, as well as other notable personalities from Ikeja Constituency 2 such as Engr. Tokunbo Oyedemi (DG, ARK ICG); Comrade Tayo Aderiola (APC Ikeja LGA Publicity Secretary/ Publisher, Panorama Group); Mr. Seun Makinde, CEO, S-Bar Lounge with his beautiful wife, Mrs Bukky Makinde; Mr. Babatunde Oguns, Comrade Segun Benson JP; Mrs. Oloruntoyin Ikujimiyo; Babatunde Shobola; Juwon Coker and others.
Hon. Kasunmu is the lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2
at the Lagos State House of Assembly. He is also the Chairman, House Committee
on Lands. He was recently re-elected for a third term in a landslide victory,
beating his closest opponent with over 10,000 votes. He celebrated his 40th
Birthday on the 29th of March 2023.
Established in 1853, St. Peter's Church (Faji), Lagos has for
over a century and half been an epicenter of worship and service to God and
humanity.
For Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, the event, was not just a
family thanksgiving, it was a nostalgic return to a church where he spent part
of his growing years.
