Abimbola, the beautiful daughter of the Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland and the first Cultural Ambassador of the National Museum, Ile-Ife, Oloye Lekan Alabi got married to her better half, Ademola Lawson at a very colourful wedding ceremony.
The two ceremonies, engagement and the wedding reception, was held at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Agodi, Ibadan, were well attended, despite being held on week days.
The Church wedding was at Anglican Church of the Ascension,
Akobo,( General Gas) Area, in Ibadan, after which guests were hosted to an
elaborate reception at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Agodi, Ibadan.
Both families, the Alabis and Lawsons didn't leave any stone
unturned in making the event a glamorous one. From the choice of venue to the
exquisite decorations, food, drinks, music and the quality of guests, it was
indeed a grand party that befits royalty. COVID-19 protocols were also strictly observed.
The best party vendors were engaged for the 2-day events. Top
celebrities from Ibadan, Lagos and across the southwest graced the two

ABOUT THE COUPLE
Both Abimbola and Ademola are professionals. While Ademola
works with a multinational health insurance company, AXA Mansard, as Head,
Upstream and Aviation Team, Abimbola is the Company Secretary and the Chief
People Officer heading HR, Admin, Learning & Development/Performance
Management and Legal teams at Allianz Nigeria Insurance Ltd. They are both from
eminent family backgrounds and of good upbringing too.
THE WEDDING PROCEEDINGS AT A GLANCE
To say that Abimbola and Ademola's wedding ceremony was colourful would be stating the obvious. Apart from the fact the party was well attended, it was a party with a touch of class. The bride's gift items (Eru Iyawo) were so rich and well packaged. Both MCs (Alaga Iduro and Alaga Ijoko) at the traditional wedding added spices to the whole event. Not to talk of the elaborate decorations. The two halls, both function, and the main hall, used for traditional and wedding reception, respectfully, were transformed into a small paradise with exquisite decorations in African way by the Ibadan number 1 decorator, Dexterity Plus.
Guests were served fresh palm wine at the party. The Soul Foods By Solace, Amala Special by Ose Olorun Food Canteen, small chops were made available abundantly. This is coupled with other dishes, both Africa and continental. The lovely ushers in Aso-Oke attires also added color to the events. Popular Ibadan highlife singer, Wole Ojo was on bandstand. He was supported by a D.J. Seun Treasures band performed at the wedding reception.
Colour code for the party was Sweet Pink and Fila Etu for men.
OLOYE LEKAN ALABI & WIFE AS EXCELLENT HOSTS
The Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadaland, Oloye Lekan Alabi is widely
known to be a highly disciplined and meticulous man. And that is always
reflected in whatever he does. He is also a good organiser and a PR expert. So
it wasn't surprising to those who know to see him moving around the tables at
the party, to make sure all guests were adequately taken care of. The wife,
Chief (Mrs) Tokunbo Alabi was at her best too. She is equally an excellent
hostess. She is warm and kind and cheerful. She loves hosting and taking care of
people, even those that are not her family.
IBADAN TOP SOCIETY WOMEN IN THE HOUSE
Oloye Lekan Alabi and his wife are one of the influential
couples when it comes to tradition and
social circles in Ibadan. They are well-loved and respected. They are also
always in support of others when necessary too. The wife, Chief (Mrs) Tokunbo
Alabi is close to some top society women in Ibadan. Little wonder then that
some of these prominent society women stormed the party in style. They also
participated in Aso-Ebi lace. They include the former first lady of Oyo State,
Chief (Mrs) Yinka Ladoja; the Iyaloja General of Ibarapaland and the mother of
Oyo Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Chief (Mrs) Tina Ogundoyin;
Chief Ronke Thomas; Chief (Mrs) Olarenwaju Adedeji-Otiti; Mrs Folusho Fisher;

WITH LOVE FROM OLUBADAN'S PALACE
Though the Olubadan of Ibadaland, Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje
Ogungunniso 1 couldn't make it to the party, he was fully represented. Apart
from his staff of office that was sighted at the party, a good number of
traditional chiefs from the palace and across Ibadan were present. It wasn't
unexpected to see these chiefs, Oloye Lekan is deeply in tune with Yoruba
tradition and culture. He also represents Olubadan in most events within a d
outside Ibadan.
WHAT OLOYE LEKAN ALABI & LADOJA HAVE IN COMMON
The former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashid Adewolu
Ladoja was Chairman of the occasion at Oloye Lekan Alabi's daughter's wedding
ceremony. But he was represented by the Ajia Balogun of Ibadaland, Chief Adegboyega
Adegoke. What many people may not know, however, is that Oloye Lekan Alabi and
Senator Rashidi Ladoja are brothers. They are both from Isale-osi Area of
Ibadan. They are also both in Olubadan line. Senator Ladoja is the Osi Olubadan
of Ibadaland, while Oloye Lekan Alabi is the Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadaland.
OMO AJOROSUN CLUB WAS WELL REPRESENTED
Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan, a popular social-cultural group in
the ancient city was not left out of actions at the party. Oloye Lekan Alabi is
a prominent member of the club. The club members were led to the party by their
amiable President, Mogaji Ismail Bioku.
ONIKEPO AKANDE'S MOTHERLY ROLE
Chief (Mrs) Onikepo Akande, the Iyalaje Iyalode of Ibadanland
and two-time Minister of Industry of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was fully
on ground. She was there as one of the representatives of Ibadan league of
women in Iyalode line. She also coordinated the cutting of the wedding cake
alongside Akinlolu Akinyele of AXA Mansard, and as well supervised the couple's
first assignment of feeding themselves.
FRIENDS OF THE COUPLE AT THE PARTY
There was a good number of friends of the newly wedded who
came around to celebrate with them as they are joined in the holy matrimony.
They came from the University of Ibadan, UNILAG, Lagos Business School, Allianz
Insurance, AXA Mansard and other private sectors. They include Tayo, Ibukun,
Niyi Adebutu; Austin, Bayo, Alfred and While some of Abimbola's friends at the
party include Tola, Ope, Titi, Moyo, Deola Sugar, Tolu, Ebun, Zara,
Tutu,Oyinda, Gbemi, Ezene and Yetunde.
MOGAJI AKERE, THE NEW MR FIX IT IN IBADAN
For the two days that the wedding ceremony lasted, one of those who also played a prominent role is Mogaji Moshood Adesina popularly known as Mogaji Akere. He is a member of the Omo Ajorosun Club. He was practically on his feet to make guests, especially those from Ajorosun Club and others were taken care of. He is being described as the new 'Mr. Fix It' in Ibadan. Akere is rich and hot and well connected. He also carries himself with a lot of dignity.
