BRIEF ON THE NEW MADAKIN ZAZZAU MUNIR JAAFARU OFR, mni.

Alhaji Mohammed Munir Jaafaru (OFR, mni), Yeriman Zazzau (prince) is now the MADAKIN ZAZZAU, which makes him the highest-ranking prince in the emirate. Born in 1956 in Zaria, his father, Jaafaru Dan Isiyaku was the 16th Sarkin Zazzau. His father died when he was 3 years old. As emir of Zaria, his father was the administrative head of Zaria Emirate.

Munir Jaafaru was made the title holder of Yeriman Zazzau since 1995 by the late Emir Shehu Idris who died in 2020. Munir Jaafaru is a legal practitioner, administrator, a technocrat. He was former Managing Director, National Maritime authority and Chairman of Nigerian Unity Bank. He also attended the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies NIPPS. Course 13.

The New MADAKIN ZAZZAU was also a lecturer at ABU and served as a commissioner at various times in the state. He was also Secretary of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.NRC. He was also chairman of AG, Alliance Insurance Company, and NEM Insurance Company.

Under President Obasanjo he was appointed chairman National Export Processing Zones Authority NEPZA. After the death of Emir Shehu Idris in 2020, the new Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli elevated Munir Jaafaru to the Post of MADAKIN ZAZZAU which also makes him a trusted aide of the new Emir. Munir who was a top contender for the throne after the death of Emir Shehu ldris last year, believes traditional rulers have a role to play in the society by ensuring peace is maintained in their various domains.
