What's new with Ade Bakare couture 2019

Last year saw Ade Bakare exhibit his collections in various countries around the world, such as Equatorial Guinea, Morocco and Rwanda, keeping with his awareness and expansion plans in Africa.

Mr Ade Bakare who is based in London but with branches in Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja), has always felt there is a lack of general interest in fashion amongst other African countries with focus being more in Europe and America, in trying to foster closer relationships with a view to setting up in other Africa countries Ade Bakare accepts offers to show his collections abroad.

This year sees him showing in Kenya, Niger and France in Europe.

The Ade Bakare boutique in Lagos was set up in Victoria island in 2006, slightly hidden at the back of the Sandiland building on Muri Okunola ,it became a closely guarded secret amongst his loyal clients, especially for his couture pieces ,a ready to wear line was launched some years back and has become a great success, which has led to the opening of a new boutique in Lekki phase 1 in Lagos ,it's situated on the 1st floor of the David Wedge building on Admiralty road adjacent to Access bank .the boutique will stock the ready to wear line, alongside accessories and the perfumes. It’s actually the first time Ade Bakare shall have road visibility. The concept store will stock innovative designs in limited numbers and more affordable. It opens in April.

Lots of people became familiar again with the label through characters on the Dstv hit series "Battleground " especially on actresses such as Adora and Teni played by Shaffy Bello and Ini Okojie respectively, they wore Ade Bakare designs to much acclaim. Ade Bakare is currently in talks with another to series to clothe some of the characters, which aims to be more creative and grand, leaving viewers spellbound

The fashion design couture academy Ade Bakare set up in 2017 has seen an increase in students enrolling for the 4-month intensive course at the V I atelier .it offers the design student to learn major skills such as fashion designing, pattern cutting and sewing in studio setting, enabling them to learn in a working environment.

A spinoff of the fashion course is the fashion design competition which will be held this year in June .in 2006 Ade Bakare set up the young designers creative competition awards (YDCC ) to identify and encourage new design talent in Nigeria .this year serves to be more exciting and huge benefits await the finalists, details of the show will be available next month in Apri.
