•Details Of The 2 Day Party That Shook LAGOS
It was all merry, celebration, and happiness on Thursday 19th and Saturday, 21st October, 2017, when family members, friends and well-wishers of Protea Hotel Chairman and Rikaz boss, Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi, and his wife, Alhaja Bola Owoyemi came to witness the Engagement/Nikkai and white wedding ceremony between their daughter, Ifedolapo Amidat, and Adeola Oluwole in Lagos. Adeola Oluwole is the son of Mr Kolawole Babarinde and Mrs Adeyinka Olakitan Sobowale. The venue of the Engagement Ceremony which was on Thursday 19th was at D’Venue by Cedarwood Event Centre, while the white wedding/reception which took place on Saturday, 21st at Landmark Event Eentre, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos. The party played host to several VIPS, celebrities, government officials etc on the day. The 2 days party also had in attendance, a big representation of practically all the top and popular Textile Merchants in Lagos. UNVEILING THE LOVELY COUPLE
The bride Ifedolapo, who is in her mid 20s, is one of the daughters of Chief and Mrs Tajudeen and Bola Owoyemi. She had her early education in Lagos. On this special day of hers, Ifedolapo changed her outfits twice, and very beautiful in each of the outfits. Her make-up was handled by her top make up artist, faceby Labisi. The groom, Adeola Oluwole is also a Lagos big boy, who had his education in Nigeria and overseas. He is in his early 30s. They had their introduction few months back and had a grand wedding afterwards. The pleasant couple looked very good in their choice attires for both days. They made sure they enjoyed their day to the fullest.
INTRODUCING THE COUPLES PARENTS
The bride’s parents, Chief Tajudeen and Bola Owoyemi are both from Offa, in Kwara State. They are devout Muslims, and are big time financiers of Mosques and Islamic societies in the country. Chief Owoyemi owns some Protea Hotels in Lagos, Marriot Renaissance hotel, GRA, Ikeja and several other thriving business conglomerates in and outside Nigeria. He owns Avalon Hotels and a Football Club, in Kwara State. The bride’s mother is a top textile merchant in Lagos. She runs the thriving Fabric Store, Rikaz Boutique. The groom’s parents are Mr Kolawole Babarinde and Mrs Adeyinka Olakitan Sobowale with the Oyetuga families. Both parents were full of smiles all through the event, as they joined their children in Holy Matrimony.
2 TOP ISLAMIC CLERICS COORDINATED THE NIKKAI
The ceremony began with an engagement ceremony anchored by prominent engagement anchors, it was followed by Nikkai proper where 2 popular Islamic Clerics from Lagos and Kwara States took charge. There are some Muslim clerics that are very close to Chief Owoyemi and no wonder, they came in group to honour one of their own. The head of Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdul Rahaman gave the sermon and lessons from Quran, while the Chief Imam of Offa in Kwara State, Alhaji Muyideen Hussein Salman presided over the joining of the couple, and presentation of marriage certificate from Offa Central Mosque.
THE COUPLE’S FRIENDS
The couple’s friends, all silverspoon kids were suave and beautiful at the ceremony. They all settled for a black tie outfit as they all rocked the Aso Ebi which is all coral for the traditional engagement. Evening dresses and Tuxedo Suites were very visible while many still preferred their normal white native and blue cap. Some of them are foreign based but made it down to Nigeria.
ZAPPHIRE PACKAGED THE EVENT
As usual, the event decorator for the Owoyemi families, Zapphire Events planning company led by beautiful Ladyboss, Funke Bucknor Obruthe was saddled with the responsibility of planning, coordinating the 2-day event and a splendid job they did. Like she normally does, she was up and doing at the wedding and made sure nothing was left unattended to. She supplied the beautiful ushers for both the engagement and wedding and all her ushers looked radiant.
OAKEN TOOK CONTROL OF THE SET DECOR
The newly built Landmark Event Centre in Oniru, Lagos played host to the classy reception and its interior decor was what wowed many guests as they made their entry into the beautifully lit hall which seated over 3000 guests. From the aisle to the hall to every table which was tagged in different numbers, it was a colorful ambience all through. It was full of decoration despite the fact that the hall is beautiful enough and also the tables and chairs that were decorated in colours of white with beautiful chandelier lights to go with. You will never expect less from leading décor company, Oaken Events led by Ayiri who made sure she made her décor distinct from the rest with her natural flowers and winter wonderland style. The decorator for the engagement was also handled by the same company and she gave D’Venue Centre a traditional feel as guests find their way to the venue. The hall had a wow effect, yet simply decorated. The couple’s Gazebo was in beautiful colours of white with fresh flowers adorning the backdrop on the elevated floors.
SOLOMON ARASE WAS THE CHAIRMAN
The Chairman of the day was former Police boss, Solomon Arase. He got to the party very early, declared the event opened and charged the couple with some words from the bible. He advised them to be close to God and make sure they always settle their differences on the spot. He used his marriage as example after been married for 30 years and still waxing stronger.
HIS WIFE, AGHARASE DID THE CAKE CUTTING
The beautiful wife of former Police boss, Solomon Arase, Agharase was at the party with her husband and she took charge by coordinating cake cutting. She was joined by the founder of Tasty Fried Chicken, Chief Mrs. Pamela Adeday and her husband with other important dignatries to cut the cake and they took pictures afterwards.
BRIDE’S SISTER, BUKKY VERY SUPPORTIVE
The elder sister of the bride, Bukky Owoyemi was up and doing at the ceremony. This is the fifth wedding she will be hosting as the first born of the family and she made sure at every wedding, her siblings had it all good. You will think she is the event planner, due to her full involvement at the wedding. She was with her sister all through. Even at the reception, she went from table to table making sure guests were all satisfied. Though based in the UK, she made sure she planned the wedding accordingly. She was also supported by her other siblings. Her outfits for both days were out of this world owing to the fact that she patronizes top designers like April by Kunbi for her couture dresses.
FORMER SKYE BANK STORMED THE PARTY
The former Skye Bank Chairman, Akinsola Akinfenwa is one of the close associates of the brides father, Chief Owoyemi. He has always been a regular figure at their parties because of their robust friendship. He was seen at the engagement and party in his usual white attire.
OBA OF LAGOS SENT WHITE CAP CHIEFS, OLOFA OF OFFA & OTHERS
There were several royal fathers at the event. Amongst them were Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, represented by his white cap chiefs and staff of office at the church but was fully present at the reception. Present also were Olofa of Offa, Kwara State, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, the Esuwoye II, Oniroko of Iroko Land, Oba Saheed Elegushi with his Oloori and many others.
SENATOR YAYI STORMED THE RECEPTION
At the wedding was senator Adeola Yayi who got a loud ovation from his fans as he made his way into the venue. He spent an ample time with the Owoyemis before he took his leave
KWANKWASO HONOURED CHIEF OWOYEMI
Senator Kwankwaso who presides over Kano State was at the party. He solely came to celebrate with the couple and honour Chief Owoyemi whom he enjoys a close friendship with. He took his time for many hours and sat together on the same table with the couple’s parents.
MEET THE BRIDES GRAND PARENTS OF OVER 90 YEARS
This is one of the unforgettable moments in one’s life to see your grandparents present at your wedding so Ifedolapo was all lucky and happy when her grandmother not only came for the engagement party but was at the wedding as well. Her grandmother gave her a beautiful warm hug at the reception and everyone was amazed at their display of love. Ife’s grandmother is Sabitiu Aduke from the sarkosin family in Offa while her grandfather is Adetuyi Salaudeen.
AND THE BALOGUNS STOOD OUT AT THE PARTY
One family who stood out at the party were the Balogun families who are like the Owoyemi in-Laws. They trooped out in large numbers and spotted were Olabisi Balogun, Alhaja Kafayat Balogun, Latifat Shitu, Taofikat Raheem, Seun Balogun Jnr, Jumoke Balogun, Iyabo Balogun, Adama Balogun, Ayobami Balogun ,Aishat Balogun and many others.
ALADE FABRIC MERCHANTS STOLE THE SHOW WITH THE BRIDES MOTHER
When you go to an event organized by one of the fabric merchants in Alade Market, then you can be sure of seeing them in large numbers at the party. They are highly supportive of each other and always make sure they stand out with their aso ebis. It was Alhaja Rikaz daughter’s wedding and many of her friends all came out to celebrate with her. She dazzled many in her choice outfits for both days and her friends too were not left out. Seen at the party were topshop boss, Foluke Adeniyi Jones, Radeke Kupoluyi, Alhaja Mosun, Mrs Balogun Maiboh, Alade Secretary, Mrs Idowu, Mrs Woru and many others.
LAGOS SOCIETY WOMAN, IYABO BALOGUN, A FRIEND INDEED
One society lady who was very conspicuous at the wedding was the beautiful and popular Lagos celebrity woman, Iyabo Balogun. Apart from being a friend to the bride’s mother, she is also her in-law. She was up and doing at the party seeing to it that guests were well taken care of. The two of them (Bola Owoyemi and Iyabo Balogun) are more like Siamese twins anytime you see them at social functions and they are always supporting each other, Iyabo Balogun was at the wedding with her husband, Demola Balogun, the Chairman of Dembal Generators who is Chief Owoyemi right hand man and their children.
FAITH BAND PLAYED AT THE ENGAGEMENT
After dancing to melodious jams from the DJ, it was time for hi-life to take over. There was not a dull moment as Faith Band gave good account of itself, from Juju, Hi-life, old skool to new school. Guests had a swell time all through the event.
VINTAGE BAND AND UK DJ KAY, MESMERISED GUESTS
The couple are both lovers of good music and this was evident at the party. The party paraded top music bands from the engagement to the wedding. After so much fun on Thursday at the engagement, the party continued at the Landmark Event Centre where guests were first treated to lovely music from BJ Sax who ushered in the bride and groom then vintage band and DJ Kay took over.
TEE A AND EXTREME ANCHORED
Popular Comedian and TV Show host, Tee A was the anchor of the event, and as usual, he was at his best dishing out rib-cracking jokes, as he carried everybody along. He has handled close to 4 weddings for the Owoyemis in the last 4 years, no wonder he enjoys a robust friendship with Chief Owoyemi.He was joined by Kuponiyi Oluwatosin popularly known as MC Extreme.
